What to Expect During Air Conditioning System Maintenance

When Intagas provides air conditioning system maintenance services, you can expect our experts to check the following:

  • The area around the system to ensure it is free of debris
  • Thermostat: The thermostat should accurately reflect ambient conditions, while it setting should maximise your comfort
  • Electrical connections, capacitors, relays and contactors: Snug connections ensure system and extend system life. We’ll check energy consumption to ensure the pump’s optimal operation
  • Unit disconnect switches and test time delay: These should work well to prevent electrical hazards
  • Lubrication: To reduce friction, resistance and energy loss
  • Condensate drain and pan: The drain should not have obstructions, while the pan should not have leaks or cracks
  • Startup, shutdown and other controls: The technician will verify that the system turns on and off appropriately and ensure the proper function of additional controls. The technician will listen for unusual noises and vibrations
  • Air filter: Dirty air filters waste energy and cause unnecessary wear on compressors. If necessary, we will replace it
  • Blower wheel and motor: Dirty blower wheels and motors hinder airflow, which can waste energy and damage the compressor. We will ensure the motor draws the proper amperage
  • The alignment of belts, pulleys and other components: Misaligned components can result in costly repairs
  • Panels: If safety panels are not in place, the unit will not operate
  • Coil temperatures: We will check temperatures to see if they differ across a coil. If so, this may indicate production or capacity problems
  • Condenser fan and coil: We will clean the condenser coil to prevent problems related to refrigerant pressure and check the fan for vibrations, motor stability and amp draw
  • Crankcase heater: When these don’t function well, they can damage the compressor
  • Reversing valve: Ensure good function to save energy
  • Defrost assembly: A defrost timer in good condition prevents heat losses and compressor damage
  • Refrigeration metering device: Clogged metering devices or one that doesn’t work well will hinder efficiency, life and cooling capacity. The technician will ensure that the refrigerant has the proper charge
